Description | Family Engagement: Supporting Family Well-Being. This course is designed to promote family engagement practices that support family well-being. Family well-being occurs when all family members are safe, healthy and have chances for educational advancement and economic mobility. Programs that support services such as early care and education, housing and food assistance and physical and mental health care positively contribute to the well-being of families and their children. When families face challenges that cause stress, including poverty and homelessness, their health and wellness can be negatively impacted. Engaging families as active participants in problem-solving and goal-setting can help them identify and ues their own strengths to address the challenges they face. When families are healthy, safe and economically stable, their children's health and well-being can thrive. This course uses strength-based essential tools such as the Family Economic Mobility (FEM) toolkit which is a core aspect of family well-being, one of the seven Family Ouctcomes in the Parent, Family and Community Engagement (PFCE) Framework. Partnering with families as they pursue economic well-being is a key part of the work at Head Start programs, weather you are a program director or manager or you work directly with families. This course will teach a strengths-based approach about family economic mobility basics, giving you ideas and inspiration and hands-on resources and training to help you engage and plan with families. |
